You have the option of fitting a Rubicon base flange (P/N 72599) directly to the pipe, or using an adaptor kit to fit a base flange adaptor to an existing 400 mm (P/N 84357) or 16 inch (P/N 85358) pipe flange.

# Fitting a Rubicon Base Flange to an HDPE Riser

This is the procedure for fitting a Rubicon base flange (P/N 72599) directly to an HDPE riser.

**Step 1**

Ensure the pipe is cut to the correct height and square-faced.

**Step 2**

Fit a drilling jig (or if no drilling jig is available use 4-5mm plate/spacers to space the flange out from the face of the pipe).

**Step 3**

Ensure that the arrows point *down* the bay.

**Step 4**

Using a 12mm drill bit, drill one hole and fit the bolt (use one of the bushes from the kit to centre the hole if the jig is not available).

**Step 5**

Continue to drill a total of four holes 90<sup> </sup>degrees<sup> </sup>apart and fit bolts to hold the flange in place.

**Step 6**

Drill the remaining six holes.

**Step 7**

Remove the bolts and flange.

**Step 8**

Fit the rubber seal to the flange and fit the flange-seal assembly to the pipe (ensure that the alignment hole is in the correct position).

**Step 9**

Countersink one hole from the inside of the pipe (The outside dimension should be 21±1mm).

**Step 10**

Insert a bush into one of the holes and using a pry bar in the closest hole fit and, using anti-seize, tighten the bush/bolt/grommet assembly.

> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ If the hole is countersunk too deep, fit one or more M12 washers between the grommet and the cup washer.

**Step 11**

Continue to fit the rest of the bolts. Do not use the pry bar on a hole that has been countersunk or it will elongate the hole.

> ℹ️ The bush may sometimes need hitting into place with a punch.

# Fitting a Rubicon Base Flange Adaptor to an Existing Pipe Flange

Adaptor kits are available for the following third-party pipe flanges:

- P/N 84357 - for an AS2129 Table D 400 mm diameter pipe flange
- P/N 85358 - for an ANSI B 16.5 Class 150 16 inch diameter pipe flange.

**Step 1**

Install the third party pipe flange according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

**Step 2**

Remove any debris and dry both sides of the third-party pipe flange rubber gasket.

**Step 3**

Line up the third-party gasket and the base flange with the pipe flange and install 4 locating bolts (not provided) from the pipe flange side

**Step 4**

Install washers (not provided) and nuts (not provided) and finger tighten.

> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ If you are installing the ANSI adaptor please also use isolation bushes (not provided) when fixing the adaptor to the pipe flange.

**Step 5**

Install the remaining bolts, washers and nuts (not provided) on the pipe flange side. Tighten to the pipe flange in sequence, tightening in this order for example:
