BayDrive commissioning is completed via Bluetooth using DeviceConnect. If you are unfamiliar with DeviceConnect please view the [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DC/pages/1914896390](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DC/pages/1914896390) before proceeding

# Connect to the FerIT SolarNode

**Step 1**

Open [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DC](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DC) and tap the **Connect **button to scan for devices.  DeviceConnect will scan for local devices and display a list of any devices it finds.

**Step 2** 

When you detect the desired FerIT, select it and tap the **Pair** button. DeviceConnect with connect to the FerIT and display the device details screen.

> ℹ️ You do not need to enter a password to connect to a device and view device settings. 
> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ You will however be prompted for a password when you want to change any device settings or to upgrade device firmware.

# Install the iMotor Driver

If the iMotor driver is already installed, continue to Configure the iMotor Driver.  


**Step 1**

Open the Drivers tab and cllick the **+Add** button at the top right to add a driver. You’ll be prompted to enter the password for your device.

**Step 2**

[Add a device driver](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DC/pages/1914896495/Configuration#Add-and-Remove-Device-Drivers). You should add either the **iMotor **driver or the **iMotor/MicronLevel** drivers if you are also using a MicronLevel Air with your BayDrive.

**Step 3**

Wait while the device writes the changes to flash and restarts.

# Commission the iMotor

> ℹ️ When commissioning the iMotor, check to ensure that there is adequate clearance of the gate from any fixed obstruction during travel, both at the fully open position and at the fully closed position. 
> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ These commissioning steps should be followed in this order - failure to follow commissioning steps in this order could result in damage to your gate.

> ℹ️ The settings and data units depend on your browser language. Ensure that you have selected English (Australia) to display as metric, or English (United States) to display as Imperial.

**Step 1**  
Reconnect to the FerIT Solar Node and [open the iMotor driver](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DC/pages/1914896447/Viewing+and+Managing+Devices#View-and-Modify-Driver-Settings-and-Data) from the **Drivers** tab. Then select the **Commissioning** tab.

**Step 2**

On the **Commissioning** tab read the **Device Commissioned** value. The value should be OFF. 

- If it is not, select the *Set Uncommissioned* command in the **Commission Commands** drop-down menu and click the :LCDRightArrow: **Send** button.
- Check the **Commissioned** value again and ensure that it is now *OFF*.

## Set the Closed and Open Positions

### Set the Closed Position

> ℹ️ **Hazard: Moving parts**
> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ - Keep your hands clear of moving parts.
> ℹ️ - Ensure that machinery cannot start unexpectedly. Use lockout procedures if necessary.
> ℹ️ - Secure heavy equipment.

To set the close position the gate needs to be moved manually, this can be done by either using either DeviceConnect or locally with the SolarNode buttons. If using DeviceConnect skip to **Step 3**

**Step 1**

Open the FerIT SolarNode by unscrewing the two fastening screws on either side of the antenna mounting.

**Step 2**

Hold both the OPEN (1) and CLOSE (2) buttons down until both LEDs turn red (this takes about 5 seconds). If the BayDrive is not moved within 30 seconds (configurable), the buttons are deactivated and you must repeat this step to move the BayDrive.

**Step 3**

Use the OPEN and CLOSE buttons to move the BayDrive to a closed position such that the lifting channels are at a desired height and stop moving the gate.

> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ To avoid damage to the door assembly, ensure that there is no tension on the rubber at the door hinge-point at the closed position.

**Step 4**

Use DeviceConnect to send the command *Set Close Limit* in the **Commission Commands** drop-down menu and click the :LCDRightArrow: **Send** button. 

**Step 5**

Check the location of the protective bolts and adjust as necessary.

> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ Physical limits comprising four socket head bolts are provided to prevent the gate from being over-closed. After commissioning, when the door is at the closed limit, ensure the bolts are relocated appropriately in the provided holes. The bolts should be located to allow a small amount of excess closing. If the holes provided are not suitable, additional M8 holes can be drilled and tapped in the side of the actuator arms. In the event of the BayDrive actuating the door to these physical limits, the BayDrive will overtorque without causing damage.

**Step 6**

Read the **Encoder Count** and ensure this is now *1000000000*.

### Set the Open Position

> ℹ️ - Ensure that machinery cannot start unexpectedly. Use lockout procedures if necessary.
> ℹ️ - Secure heavy equipment.

**Step 1**

As above use the OPEN and CLOSE buttons to move the BayDrive to an open position such that the lifting channels are at a desired height and stop moving the gate.

> ℹ️ **Note:**
> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ To avoid damage to the door assembly, ensure that at the open position:
> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ - There is no tension on the rubber at the door hinge-point.
> ℹ️ - The door is not touching any fixed structure.

**Step 2**

Use DeviceConnect to send the command *Set Open Limit* in the **Commission Commands** drop-down menu and click the :smRight: **Send** button. 

## Complete Commissioning

**Step 1**

Use DeviceConnect to send the command *Set Commissioned* in the **Commission Commands** drop-down menu and click the :smRight: **Send** button. 

**Step 2**

Check the **Device Commissioned** field.  This should now read *ON*.

**Step 3**

On the iMotor driver **Control **tab, use the **Open** or **Close** button once and confirm that the BayDrive can move to the fully open or closed position.

Alternatively, set the **Open to %** property to a percentage value (such as 50%), then refresh the **% Open** property to confirm that the value matches after the BayDrive stops moving.

**Step 4**

Use the **Motor Status** and **Gate Status** options to diagnose any potential problems. If there are none, disconnect from the device (and close the FerIT Solar Node if you have not already done so).


## Low Current Close Configuration

The motor is expecting to reach a minimum torque when closing to confirm that the gate is sealed. A **Low Current Closure** alarm is triggered when a position of 0% is indicated without a sufficient current occurring during the close movement.

This may occur if:

- The motor is no longer engaged with the coupling or no longer in place (the motor is turning without moving the gate).

Therefore, the motor indicates the valve is closed based on the minimum torque.

> ℹ️ You should manually inspect the gate if the **Low Current Closure **alarm is triggered during an irrigation.

**Step 1**

After completing the unloaded commissioning close movement on the BayDrive. Use DeviceConnect to read the **Current Last Move** in the **Data Tab**

**Step 2**

On the **Commission** tab, Set the **Close Current Threshold** to a value approximately 500mA below the value read in **Step 1** then click the :smRight: **Send** button. 

**Step 3**

Return to the Drivers tab and perform a soft reset of the device by clicking the **Reset Device** :refreshGreyIcon: button. This will force the FerIT to reboot and save all settings adjustments that have occurred.

**Step 4**

This alarm can now be monitored via the FarmConnect portal or locally via DeviceConnect by reading **Low Current Closure **in the **Data **tab.

# Reviewing the Maximum Current Limits

> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ We recommend that you monitor the opening and closing currents during an irrigation event and adjust the maximum current limits if necessary.

We recommend setting the current limits to 50% more than the observed values (but do not exceed the default limits).

The BayDrive is now fully commissioned and configured.
