# Layout the Door and Clamping Plates

**Step 1: Mark out the location of the door kit. **

Starting from a marked setout point A:

- Mark a line 315mm/365mm (see 1 Setback above) from the setout point to a setback point B.
- Mark a line for the centre of the culvert.
- Mark a line for the centre of the rubber door.

**Step 2: Lay out and align the rubber door**

Lay the rubber door inside the culvert.

- The upstream edge of the rubber door should align with the setback point B.
- The centre of the rubber door should align with the culvert centreline.

**Step 3: Lay out and brace the clamping plates**

- Insert clamping plates over the rubber door. Ensure that the holes of the clamping plate align with the holes in the rubber door.
- Insert timber bracing over the front clamping plates and secure it into position.

- Insert timber bracing over the side clamping plates (close to the downstream end) and secure it into position.

**Step 4: Check and adjust the side clamping plates**

For each side, mark a line on the rubber 260mm from the downstream face of the front clamping plate.

- The tip of the side clamping plate should be aligned with this mark
- The opposite tip should align with the edge of the rubber door.

Adjust the side clamping plate location and bracing if necessary.

# Drill Holes and Install Anchors

> ℹ️ **Note**

> ℹ️ See [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BY/pages/2319876123](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BY/pages/2319876123)for details of recommended anchors.

**Step 1 Drill two holes on one side of the culvert and secure**

- Drill hole 1. Apply a gentle downward pressure on the vertical member of the clamping plate to ensure that the rubber follows the contour of the culvert.
- Drill hole 2. Secure the rubber door temporarily with a nut and washer.

**Step 2 Drill matching holes on the other side of the culvert and secure**

Repeat step 1 for the opposite side and temporarily secure the rubber door.

**Step 3 Driill the remaining holes**

Driill the remaining holes in the front and side clamping plates.

**Step 4 Remove the clamping plates and rubber door and clean the holes**

- Remove the temporary nuts and washers.
- Remove the clamping plates.
- Lift the rubber door away from the drilled hols and remove any residual dust from the holes with a vacuum cleaner or blower.

**Step 5 Install anchors**

Install all the anchors.

# Apply Sealant and Secure the Door and Clamping Plates

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ See [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BY/pages/2320760836](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BY/pages/2320760836) for details of sealant selection. Please make sure that you follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions when applying sealant.

**Step 1 Apply sealant for the front clamping plate**

- Apply a bead of polyurethane sealat along the full length of the underside of the rubber door (under the footprint of the front clamping plate). Apply enough sealant to cover the width of the clamping plate when it is compressed against the culvert.
- Apply a bead of sealant around each anchor and along the full length of the culvert face (that is, along the footprint of the front clamping plate).

**Step 2 A****pply sealant for the side clamping plate**

Apply sealant for the side clamping plate to the rubber door, the anchors, and the concrete as for step 1.

**Step 3 Move the rubber gate and clamping plates back into position**

- Move the rubber gate back into position aligning the holes with the matching anchors.
- Move the clamping plates back into place. Apply gentle presssure and tap them into place with a mallet.

**Step 4 Secure the anchors**

Place nuts and washers on the anchors and tighten to the manufacturer’s specifications. (See [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BY/pages/2319876123](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/BY/pages/2319876123)for details)

**Step 5 Seal the upstream edges of the rubber door**

Apply a bead of sealant around the upstream edges of the rubber door and up to the upstream face of the front clamping plates. Remove any excess sealant with a gloved finger.
