You can modify or delete any program by selecting it from the **Irrigation Programs** menu and making whatever changes you want. However, if the program has already been synchronised you will need to resynchronise the program to update the presets with your changes.

> ℹ️ If you delete programs or program steps that have been synchronized this will NOT remove the presets that you have already saved. You will need to disable these presets in the Manual Control screen.
# Deleting a Program
On the Irrigation Programs toolbar select a program and click **X** **Delete** to delete it.
# Editing the Program Details
Edit the **Program Details** panel to change the program name or the program start time. Remember to click the **Save Program Changes** button to save your changes.

> ℹ️ You must set the program start time to be at least ten minutes in the future.
# Editing Program Steps
You can modify or delete steps after you have added them to a program by using the editing controls in the Program Steps List.
## Changing Step Details
Change details such as durations or event settings by clicking into the relevant fields. Editable values will be highlighted. If your steps consist of action groups, you will need to edit the actions inside the action group.
You can’t change the bay or device for a step after the step is created. To do this, delete the step and create a new step.
## Deleting Program Steps
To delete a program step, click **X** **Delete** in the Program Steps List beside the step you want to remove. If there are any later steps that were set to start at the end of the deleted step their start time will fall back to the end of the previous step. Be sure to check the sequence of steps in the Program Schedule Chart.
## Changing the Order of Program Steps
To change the order of program steps, or to have steps run simultaneously, edit the **Occurs After** field in the Program Steps List. Check the Program Schedule chart to make sure your changes have not had any unexpected side-effects.
# Adjusting the Duration of Program Steps
## Adjusting the Duration Before Synchronization
You can adjust the lengths of all program steps by using the **Duration adjustment** option in the Program Details panel. Enter a percentage value and all durations (both irrigations and delays) in the program will be adjusted proportionally.

> ℹ️ This is useful if you have a template program that you copy and run multiple times but with different duration settings.
## Adjusting the Duration During Program Operation
### Using Adaptive Control to Change Step Duration
If this feature is enabled, you can use the **Adapt** button in the **Adaptive Control **column to adjust the duration of a specific step during program operation. The durations and flow rates of the following steps may also be adjusted depending on the options you choose.

> ℹ️ - The **Adapt** button is only available for in-progress steps that have at least five more minutes to run.
> ℹ️ - It is not available for the last step in a program (you can use the [Adjust all remaining durations](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FCD/pages/2066612230/Editing+and+Deleting+Time-Based+Programs+and+Program+Steps#Adjusting-All-the-Remaining-Durations) option to adjust this step).
> ℹ️ - You can’t change the step if the resulting flow rate is more than 10% different from the original flow rate.
There are two options:
- **Vary Flow Rate** - This keeps the overall program duration the same but adjusts the flow rates so that the irrigation depth of the following steps is reduced in proportion to the change in the adapted step.

> ℹ️ If you decrease the irrigation time for the adapted step the irrigation depth for that step is reduced. The duration of the following steps will be longer to maintain the original program length, but the flow rate for the following steps will be lower so that their irrigation depth is reduced by the same proportion as the adapted step.
- **Vary Duration** - This option does not change the flow rate but adjusts the duration of the following steps so that their irrigation depth is changed in proportion to the change in the adapted step. This means that the overall program duration will change.

> ℹ️ If you decrease the irrigation time for the adapted step the irrigation depth for that step is reduced. The flow rate of the following steps will remain the same, but their duration will be shortened so that their irrigation depth changes in the same proportion as that of the adapted step.
*Adaptive flow control options in a running program*
To make a change to the step:
**Step 1**
Click the **Adapt** button.
**Step 2**
Enter the details of the change you want. You can either:
- **Flow rate mode** - Enter a new duration and select an **Adaptive Control Type** of *Vary Flow Rate*.
- **Duration mode** - Enter a new duration and select an **Adaptive Control Type** of *Vary Duration*.
**Step 3**
Click **Calculate** to calculate the changes to this program steps and any following program steps. The new program details will be displayed in the dialog box. Click **Apply** to accept the changes or **Cancel **to exit without changing the program.
### Adjusting All the Remaining Durations
You can also use the **Adjust Remaining Durations** button in the **Duration** column header to adjust all the remaining durations for a program by the same proportion provided that the end time for the duration is still in the future. Click the button and configure the remaining durations.
