## Installing the Kensho Diesel Engine Controller

## Connecting the Kensho Diesel Engine Controller

The Kensho Diesel Engine Controller should be connected using a 2-wire instrumentation cable via its built in RS-485 Modbus connection (varies per controller type and version).  Terminate the FerIT Solar Node end of the connecting cable with a 4-pin deutsch plug as per below:

Thread the connecting loom through the node mounting pole/bracket to the FerIT Solar Node mount.  Connect the deutsch plug to the external deutsch socket on the FerIT Solar Node.

## Driver Installation

The Kensho Diesel Engine Controller uses the ‘Kensho' driver in the FerIT device

1. Connect the battery
2. In DeviceConnect, scan for devices. Once found, connect the the FerIT
3. Navigate to the **Drivers** tab and select **Add**, then find and add the 'Kensho' driver.
4. Enter the access code provided
5. Allow the FerIT to restart

## Configuring the Kensho Diesel Engine Controller

**Step 1**

Press the *Menu *button and enter the pin (default: 00 00 00 00)

 **Step 2**

Scroll down to *3. User Settings* and press enter

**Step 3 **

Scroll down to *15. Modbus* and press enter

 **Step 4**

Set the Select *Modbus channel* and set the channel to **RS485**

**Step 5**

 Go back to Modbus parameters and select *2. Slave Address* and set the address to** 10**

** Step 6**

Go back to Modbus parameters and select *3. Baudrate* and set the bits per second to **9600**

**Step 7 **

Under User Settings again go up one from Modbus to *14. Start type*, Select set start type and change start type to **Momentary**

**Step 8 **

Scroll down to *4. Force Auto* and set to **Enabled**

 **Step 9**

For K27 and K37 units to enable remote RPM control via modbus the Throttle type setting needs to be changed from **GoTo fixed RPM** to **Modbus Control**

**Step 10**

Exit to the front screen and status is set to **Auto**

## Driver Configuration

> ⚠️ The settings and data units are dependant on your browser language. Ensure you have selected English (Australia) to display as metric, or English (United States) to display as Imperial

1. Connect to the FerIT Node using [DeviceConnect](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DC)
2. Navigate to the Kensho driver
3. Check the FerIT has successfully connected to the device
  1. Communication status should be ‘OK’
4. Confirm that the system is working by checking that the device is in Auto Mode and can be started / Stopped using DeviceConnect.
