# Setup

> ⚠️ Please make safety a priority when you are carrying out any work at a site. We recommend that you perform a site-specific risk assessment to identify any potential risks before commencing any work at a site.
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ See the [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GM/pages/1925186045](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GM/pages/1925186045) section for more information about specific risks and recommended procedures. Specific safety information is also provided in relevant topics.

## Installing the FerIT Node

Refer to the [FerIT documentation](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FER/pages/1932689644) for installation instructions

## Connecting the Device

2 Wire: (current)

Wire the twisted pair instrumentation cable to both Pin 7 (voltage source) and Pin 8 (negative) of the Field Terminable M12 8 Way Male Connector. Connect the other end to the sensor device as per device requirements.

3 Wire: (Voltage)

Wire the instrumentation cable to Pin5 (voltage source) Pin 7 (Voltage Input ) and Pin 8 (negative) of the Field Terminable M12 8 Way Male Connector. Connect the other end to the sensor device as per device requirements.

## Driver Installation

> ℹ️ Refer to the [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DC](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DC) documentation for procedures to install and configure drivers

Analog flowmeter or pressure sensor uses the ‘4-20mA Driver' driver in the FerIT device

1. Connect the battery
2. In DeviceConnect, scan for devices. Once found, connect the the FerIT
3. Navigate to the **Drivers** tab and select **Add**, then find and add the '4-20mA Driver' driver.
4. Enter the access code provided
5. Allow the FerIT to restart and then reconnect

## Driver Configuration

> ⚠️ The settings and data units are dependant on your browser language. Ensure you have selected English (Australia) to display as metric, or English (United States) to display as Imperial

Navigate to the 4-20mA Driver under the driver tab and go to the settings screen. you will see the following:

1. **Wiring Type:** The default is 2 wire current sensing 4-20mA, if you are using a 3 wire setup to detect voltage from 0-10V change this value.
2. **Min Value:** Change this setting to the desired value to be reported for 4mA or 0V
3. **Max Value:** Change this setting to the desired value to be reported for 20mA or 10V
For example for a 10Bar pressure sensor set Min to 0 and Max to 10 such that 4mA reports 0bar and 20mA reports 10 bar
4. **Datum Fine: **This value applies an addition or subtraction offset to the raw value detected between min and max.
5. **Filter Coefficient: **Is used to stabilise measurements between periodic. entering a % here will adjust the scaled value to be x% previous reading added to (100-x)% new reading.
6. **CoS Bursting and CoS Threshold: **When CoS Bursting is enabled the driver will burst the scaled value each periodic if the difference between the previous value and the new value are greater than the threshold
7. **Sensor Type: **As described above the driver supports three types of sensor which ever is selected here will burst data to the following tags:
  - Flow (ML/D)
  - Pressure (Bar)
  - Temperature (C)

**Diagnostic:**

Navigate to the 4-20mA Driver under the driver tab and go to the diagnostic screen. you will see the following:

1. **Comms Status: **Comms status is only used in 2 wire mode to detect if load current is below 4mA this can be identified to display a OC fault condition with the sensor.
2. **Comms Fail Count: **The count of comms fails increments each periodic, and resets on successful comms.
3. **Burst Period: **Burst period is used to adjust the frequency in which the driver bursts data over the LoRa network.
4. **Periodic Period: **Periodic period is the sampling rate of the current loop and how often the CoS bursts and filter coef calcs are applied.
5. **Watermark: **Watermark is a debug setting showing how much memory the driver has remaining. If close to 0 notify EPD.
6. **Config Patch: **Shows the version of EEPROM the current driver is using.
7. **Action Error Code: **if not OK will show an error code useful for EPD to help diagnose issues with the driver.

**Data:**

Navigate to the 4-20mA Driver under the driver tab and go to the data screen. you will see the following:

1. **Raw Value: **The instantaneous raw value shown is the value between 4-20mA or 0-10V
2. **Scaled Value: **The instantaneous scaled value is the configured value between min and max with datum adjustments and any filtering applied.
3. **Filtered Value: **The instantaneous filtered value is the scaled value with the datum and filter coefficient applied.
4. **Average Value: **A rolling average of the filtered value, this is reset upon each burst period and calculated every periodic period. This value is also written to the sensor Type ID tag for burst.
