The site map shows the location of all sites that have a location configured. If a site does not have a location, you will not see it on the map but it will still appear in the Site List.
# Map View
If the map shows a large number of sites they are grouped to avoid cluttering the map. As you zoom in, the display will show individual sites. When you zoom in further, the sites will be labelled and the icons will indicate the site type and the number of alarms active for the site (if any).
You can also configure the map view to show the details of tag values and (unacknowledged) alarms when you zoom in far enough.
# Map Tools
The map screen uses Google Maps by default and you can use any of the standard Google Maps tools to manipulate the map.

You can also use the following custom tools:

> ℹ️ The set of tools available depend on the zoom level of the map and the availability of options. If a tool is missing, try zooming in further.
| **Tool** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| :mapResetBounds: Reset bounds | Reset the map centre and zoom settings to the default. |
| :mapWatchLocn: Watch location | Follow your location on the map. When you tap this icon the map will display your current location and track your location as you move (however, if you have turned on the **Stop bounds changes** feature the map will not move as your location changes). |
| :mapBounds: Allow/Stop bounds changes | This controls whether the map view changes when you are moving between screens. For example, when you apply filters to the site list, when your location changes, or when you navigate to the site map from another screen (like the Alarms screen).
By default, if you filter the site list the map bounds will change to include all the sites that match the filter. This can mean that the view moves away from your current settings. If you want to retain your current view settings, use this tool to disable map changes when filters are applied. |
| :mapIrrUnit: Show/Hide irrigation units | Show or hide the outline of irrigation units on the map. |
| :mapDeclutter: Declutter | Reorganise overlapping site icons to show the site location more clearly. See [Decluttering the Map](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FCNF/pages/2216296587/Working+with+the+Site+Map#Decluttering-the-Map) for details. |
| :mapTagVisible: Tag visibility | Show alarm details and tag values for each site on the map.

# Expanding the Site Map or Site List
In a desktop or tablet view you can use the Expand controls at the top right of the screen to expand either the site map or the site list.
# Decluttering the Map
When many individual sites are shown on the map they may overlap and be difficult to see. Tap the **Declutter** tool to redistribute the sites on the map. If any site icons are no longer at their geographical locations, a line is displayed pointing to the location of the site. Tap the icon again to reset the display.
# Showing Alarms and Tag Values on the Map
Click the :mapTagVisible: **Tag Visibility** icon on the map to display tag or alarm data.
You can choose three selected tags to view either tag values or alarm state on the map view to give you an overview of data trends across the map area.

> ℹ️ - The map is zoomed in to the *Minimum Zoom Level* for the map or beyond.

## Alarm and Tag Tools
Click the :mapTagVisible: **Tag Visibility** tool on the map to access these extended tool options. Black icons indicate disabled options and blue icons indicate enabled options.

> ℹ️ The icons displayed for the tags will vary depending on which tags you have selected.
| **Tool** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| :mapAlarms: Display alarms | Display alarm data for currently alarmed tags. Note that alarms with a priority of NONE are not displayed. |
| Display tag 1 values | Display data for the first tag you have selected. See the map for the icon used for this tag. |
| Display tag 2 values | Display data for the second tag you have selected. See the map for the icon used for this tag. |
| Display tag 3 values | Display data for the third tag you have selected. See the map for the icon used for this tag. |
| :mapLabel: Display site labels | Hide or show site labels on the tag panels. |
| :mapPurge: Purge tags | Delete the cached tag data. Data will be displayed as it is received from the site. |

## Alarm Display

> ℹ️
> ℹ️ The alarm display mode is useful for highlighting alarms but if a tag is alarmed that will also be indicated on the tag displays.
Tap the :mapAlarms: **Display alarms** icon on the map to show alarms rather than tag data. You can choose which tags to include in the alarm display by removing any unwanted tags from the tag filters listed above the map. To reset the tag filter list, turn the alarm display off and on again.

> ℹ️ - Alarms with a priority of NONE are not displayed.
> ℹ️ - The tag filter list is not available in the mobile view of the app so you cannot select which tags to show in the alarm display.
## Tag Values and Trends Display
Tap one or more of the tag icons to display tag data instead of alarms. Note that if one of the tags you have selected is in an alarmed state there will be an alarm indicator in the panel.
By configuring the options on the map and in the map settings you can show:
- The current values of up to three selected tags. If the data is available, the value will be displayed both as text and graphically with the tag’s configured alarm limits. If the
- The tag trend for a single tag. Tag trends will appear if you continue to zoom in. To display the trends you must choose one tag only and configure the map settings to enable the trend display, See [Configuring the Tag Trend Settings](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/2119565313).
# Configuring Map Settings
Tap the :SettingsIcon: **Settings** icon at the top right of the screen to configure map settings,
## Setting the Site Label
You can choose what information is displayed on the site label. The options are:
- Site Name
- Site Label
- Site Description
Tap the **Settings** icon and select the option you prefer.
### Configuring the Map Type
FarmConnect can use maps provided by Google Maps or open-source maps provided by Leaflet.
- Google maps are generally higher quality and provide access to Google map tools.
- Leaflet allows you to download sections of the map (tiles) for use offline.
If you want to save parts of your map area for offline use, choose the Leaflet option and configure the Offline Map Tiles settings.
### Configuring Offline Map Tiles
To save map tiles for use offline, zoom in to the view that you want to save and click the SAVE TILES button.

> ℹ️ - This option is only available if you are using Leaflet as the map provider.
> ℹ️ - The application stores map tiles at the zoom level you choose when you save the tiles. You must be zoomed in to the same level to view the tiles offline.
To check what tiles you have saved, turn on the **Show cached map tiles** option.

> ℹ️ Map tiles take up a large amount of storage space. You should purge any tiles that you no longer need.
## Configuring the Tag Trend and Zoom Settings
The tag display settings you can configure are the following:
- Use the **Show or Hide Tag History** toggle to enable or disable the tag trend displays. These will appear when you continue to zoom into a site.

> ℹ️ Showing tag trends may impact on map performance. If maps are loading slowly try turning this feature off, reduce the amount of data displayed or increase the zoom level at which data is displayed.
- Set the **Tag History Duration** to control how many hours of data are shown on the map. You can select between 2 and 48 hours. The default is 2 hours and you may find that setting longer durations affects the performance of the display.
- Set the **Minimum zoom level for tag history** to control at what minimum zoom level the tag displays will appear. You should set this to a level at which you can see area trends but not at such a low level that the map is cluttered with too many tag displays.
> ℹ️ **What is Zoom Level?**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Web Mercator Zoom Level is a measure of how closely you have zoomed into the map. At a zoom level of zero the whole Earth fits onto the map and at the highest zoom level (typically 20 to 22) you will be zoomed in to show the details of single buildings. ### Selecting the Tags to Display
Choose up to three tags to show on the map. To add a tag, start typing the tag name or tag description at the bottom of the **Select Tags** field.
If you aren’t sure what the tag names and descriptions are for your sites, you can check the list of tags in the Site Summary. Click the tag menu icon and choose the **Settings** option.
**Example**
For example, the image below shows how to find the tag information for the comms fail tag on a water level sensor. You would need to choose the tag with the name: FC_WLS_COMMS_FAIL.
