# Connect the FerIT Solar Node

You can connect an existing BladeValve to a FerIT Solar node by using a pole mount coupling (P/N 81845) to connect the cable at the base of the FerIT Solar Node.

The motor connector loom required depends on the manufacturing date of the BladeValve:

#### Newer BladeValves

For BladeValves manufactured from July 15, 2016 which use loom P/N 74073, the motor loom connections are already compatible with the FerIT Solar Node.

#### Older BladeValves

For BladeValves manufactured prior to July 15, 2016 which use loom P/N 77812 you can order an upgrade kit to modify the older loom by changing the connectors at the FerIT Solar Node end of the loom.

**Old loom parts required:**

| **Part No** | **Description** | **Quantity** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 81845 | 50 mm pole mount coupling kit | 1 |
| 74837 | 4-way plug (AT06-46) Amphenol AT series | 1 |
| 74632 | Amphenol socket, 16-20 wire (AT62-201- 16141) | 4 |
| 74838 | Wedglock AW4S for AT06-4S | 1 |

**Wiring configuration**

| **New Connector** | **Old Loom** | **Old Connector** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Pin 1 | Wire 1 | Pin 1 |
| Pin 2 | Wire 4 / Earth (green yellow) | Pin 4 |
| Pin 3 | Wire 3 | Pin 3 |
| Pin 4 | Wire 2 | Pin 2 |

# Install the Drivers

1. Use DeviceConnect to connect to the FerIT Solar Node.
2. On the Drivers tab, add the iMotor driver or the iMotor/Micron Level driver depending on your configuration. The device will write the changes and restart.

> ℹ️
> ℹ️ You will be prompted to log in before installing a driver.

# Configure the Drivers

**Step 1**

Reconnect to the FerIT Solar Node

**Step 2**

Select the iMotor driver and open the Commission tab

**Step 3**

Poll the Max Opening Current, Max Closing Current, and Max Structural Current and ensure the values are correct.

**Step 4**

Lower the **Max Closing Current** to 4000mA
**Step 5**

Use the CLOSE STEP button to drive the gate closed until movement stops.

**Step 6**

Send the **Clear Gate Out Of Service** command to clear the overtorque condition.

**Step 7**

Drive the gate closed until movement stops using the close step button

**Step 8**

Send the **Set Close Limit** command. Then read the **Encoder Count** and confirm that the value is 1000000000.

**Step 9**

Set the **Max Close Current** back to the default value. Then read the **Encoder Span** and confirm that the value is 200000 (for a BladeValve).

**Step 10**

Send the command **Set Open Encoder Counts Based on Span**.

**Step 11**

Send the command **Set Commissioned**. When you poll the gate status it will now be set to *Device Commissioned*.

**Step 12**

On the Configure tab, use the buttons to OPEN and CLOSE the gate fully to confirm that it opens and closes correctly.

# Error Diagnosis

Use the Gate Status and Motor Status settings to diagnose any errors.
