The device needs to be configured correctly to establish communications back to the host. The following will explain how this is achieved.

**Step 1**

Connect to the FerIT node using Device Connect

**Step 2**

Click the Drivers tab at the top of the screen

**Step 3**

From the Drivers selection, click MDLC Driver

**Step 4**

In the Site ID textbox, type the MDLC address required for the site and then, click the write button at the end of the textbox

**Step 5**

In the Node ID textbox, type the MDLC address of the node the site is communicating via and then, click the write button at the end of the textbox

**Step 6**

Use the Node Line ID drop-down selection box to select the link the site is communicating to the node via and then, click the write button to the right of the drop-down box

**Step 7**

In the Destination Site ID textbox, type the MDLC address of the gateway the site is communicating via and then, click the write button at the end of the textbox

**Step 8**

Use the Destination Line ID drop-down selection box to select the link the site is communicating to the gateway via and then, click the write button to the right of the drop-down box

**Step 9**

Now the MDLC setting have been entered the settings need to be written to flash memory. To achieve this, first click the Back arrow at the top of the screen to exit the MDLC Driver section

**Step 9**

At the top right of the screen, click the Reset Device button to write the settings to flash and reboot the device
