The Weather Station is mounted on a mast and connected to either a Rubicon pedestal or to a FerIT Solar Node. You may need to raise and lower the pedestal mast when installing the Weather Station or when maintaining the antenna, solar panel, or Weather Station. Please observe the following safety procedures.

> ℹ️ **Hazard: Sharp objects**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Take care when handling the Weather Station or when working near the solar panel as the integrated bird spikes are sharp.
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - The Weather Station spikes are covered with a foam block for delivery. Leave this foam in place while you are installing the product. Don’t throw the foam away – it can be used to cover the bird spikes whenever you are working on the Weather Station.
> ℹ️ - Wear protective glasses, long-sleeved clothing, and gloves when working with the Weather Station.

> ℹ️ **Hazard: Heavy lifting**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - Used approved manual lifting procedures
> ℹ️ - Use suitable lifting gear and mechanical aids for heavy loads
> ℹ️ - Perform a Take 5 risk assessment to determine what type of lift is required.

> ℹ️ **Hazard: Pinch and crush**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - Watch for pinch points when moving or adjusting equipment.

# Lower the Mast

**Step 1**

Using key CH-510 or CH-751, undo the lock on the mast cover plate and remove the cover from the pedestal.

**Step 2**

Remove the top mast mounting pin and gently lower the mast to ground level.

# Raise and Secure the Mast

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Ensure that the wiring looms pass above the pin. When the mast is raised the looms should be behind the mast pin. Make sure not to pinch the looms with the pins and ensure that there is a clear path for the pins.

1. Raise the mast into position and insert the top pin. Ensure that the looms are behind the pin and fit the R clips.
2. Connect the looms at the base of the pedestal. Carefully return any protruding cable up the hollow section of the mast.
3. Fit and secure the mast cover plate. Ensure that the adjusting nut on the locking mechanism is tight.
4. Use key CH510 to lock and secure the cover.
